There are many places we can explore in this Ancient Extinct Volcano, from Godley Heads and the Lyttelton Harbour Basin, through to the historic French village of Akaroa Harbour.
Within the Lyttelton Harbour Basin there are stunning walks through native bush, rock formations, spectacular views, tunnels and other interesting structures left from the war days. There are hikes up the summit of the surrounding hills or you can take it easy and meander around the many Bays.
Located in the Harbour is Quail Island. It’s an exciting place to explore. Many years ago ships were wrecked around the Islands shore and in high tide they look like a whales rib cage coming out of the water.
We can experience any one of the many secluded beaches around the Peninsula, visit a Himalayan Temple, swim with the Dolphins or be entertained by the French flavour of Akaroa with it’s shops and café’s.
There are many short 2-3 hour tours or full day tours.
The historic French village of Akaroa is 70mins drive from Lyttelton.
